EXPERIENCE

THE WILD

Winter

Aurora Safari Camp is the first glampsite in the world for arctic winter climate. Founded and owned by Photographer Fredrik Broman and Safari specialist Jonas Gejke. The camp is situated at a very quiet site by the Råne River, far away in the forest away from artificial light, elecrical grids and road networks.  When clear skies the stargazing is just fantastic. Milkyway is right above our heads, and the Aurora Borealis might come out and play in the sky. December and January is dark and mysterious, February has more snow and full daylight is back. March is the beginning of the "spring winter". Still crispy, lost of snow and bright days. Three different winters you could say.

We pick you up with our comfortabel cars/minivans at Luleå Airport, Boden C or a lodge here in the north and take you to the reception for the camp. And the last part to the camp is in a snowmobile sleigh in the forest and on the frozen river. At arrival we have warm drinks for you and then we check you in to your tented room in the wild.

We have 4 comfortable Lavvu Rooms that can be set as double, twin or family rooms. There are heaters in each Lavvu that keeps your room warm down do extreme temeratures. In the lounge tent you can have a drink by the fireplace and we can arrange dinners for up to 14 people here. By the open fireplace outside there is a magnificent view over the river.

With Aurora Safari Camp as your base, right in the middle of the forest, you can explore the surroundings in a lot of different ways. We have snowshoes, fatbikes, kicksleds and nordic skis to use. Dogsledding with huskies and slefdrive snowmobiling are also available. Read more HERE.

The sauna on the float is a nice experience. It’s on a float that is freezed into the ice of the river and is a great place to spend the evening. You will get as clean as a human can be and warm into your core at the same time. The stargazing is magnificent here and there are always aurora chances if clear skies.

There are mooses in the forest, as well as red fox, reindeer, bears (hybernating in wintertime), roe deer and lot’s of birds.  Tracks and signs are often to be found right at your doorstep.

A stay here in winter is a memory of a lifetime, and you will be amazed of some things you did that challanged you quite a lot, and at the same time you where in comfort, in the middle of the wild.

A stay here is

If you like the camp can be booked on exclusive basis. Only for your friends/family/colleagues. At a camp stay our guides are there to take care of you and keep you comfortable and/or active at all times.
